Marilyn Fancher
Senior Vice President & Creative Director

Marilyn Fancher, senior vice president and creative director, manages StudioAPCO®, APCO Worldwide's creative practice. Ms. Fancher has extensive experience as the director and producer of a wide range of advertising and broadcast media campaigns. She works with a broad roster of clients to develop communication strategies and to write and produce film, video, radio, print and Internet media.
Ms. Fancher's clients include Fortune 500 corporations, professional and industry associations, museum and foundation capital campaigns, and political issue and grassroots campaign organizations. She has interviewed numerous government and administration officials, CEOs, scientists, physicians and political figures.
From 1989-1993, Ms. Fancher served as director of broadcast services at the Republican National Committee (RNC), where she oversaw the GOP-TV television and radio production studios and staff. She produced broadcast programs and advertising featuring elected officials and candidates including U.S. presidents, senators, congressmen, governors, Cabinet secretaries, and other White House and administration officials. She served as senior communications consultant at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul; as director of regional media at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York; as director of network affiliate television, cable television, and radio for the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia; and as RNC Satellite Network director for the 1992 Republican National Convention in Houston.
Ms. Fancher has further experience in corporate image and product advertising, having worked for advertising and public relations firms in New York, San Francisco and Seattle. She has a background in survey research methodology and broadcast and print media buying and placement.
Ms. Fancher has won more than 200 broadcast industry and creative awards, including Pollie (American Association of Political Consultants), CIPRA (Inside PR magazine), SABRE, Bronze Anvil (PRSA), Telly, Mercury, AXIEM, Galaxy, Aurora, Astrid, International Television and Video Association (ITVA) and Communicator Awards. Ms. Fancher is a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, Women in Film and Video and the American Association of Political Consultants, and she is a signatory producer for SAG/AFTRA. Ms. Fancher has served as a judge on behalf of the Monitor and Pollie (Political Candidate) Awards.
Ms. Fancher has a Master of Arts in Communications from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with a minor in English, from the University of Oregon.
Jack Lanza
Senior Vice President & Creative Director
Jack Lanza, senior vice president and creative director of StudioAPCO®, has more than 20 years of experience as an award-winning art director and graphic designer. Mr. Lanza oversees the development of corporate communication programs, advertising campaigns and publication design for APCO's diverse client list. Projects include brand development, print advertising, Web and multimedia design, package design, annual reports, brochures, direct mail, tradeshow design and corporate communication.
Prior to joining APCO, he was president and creative director of 1050 A.D., a full-service award-winning agency in Washington, D.C. He was responsible for developing advertising campaigns and corporate communication materials for Sprint, BlueCross and BlueShield, American Forests, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Deltek and The Learning Channel.
Mr. Lanza was also associate creative director with Earl Palmer Brown, where he created print and television campaigns for Sheraton Hotels, Marriott Corporation, and Amtrak, as well as numerous national business-to-business accounts including Sprint, General Electric and MCI.
Mr. Lanza has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Artists, the Art Directors Club of New York, the Art Directors Club of Washington, the Ad Club of Washington and Print magazine.
Mr. Lanza holds has Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from Syracuse University.
Darin Ruchirek
Art Director & Senior Graphic Designer
Darin Ruchirek, art director at StudioAPCO® contributes to a range of projects, including corporate identity, branding, print and online advertisements, publications and exhibitions. Ms. Ruchirek also oversees project development and manages budgets, timelines and other daily operations.
Prior to joining APCO in 2007, Ms. Ruchirek was an art director at The Madison Design Group, where she managed a team of designers and contributed to the strategic growth of the business. Her clients included Washington Gas, D.C. Chamber of Commerce, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation and Maryland Health Care Commission. Ms. Ruchirek has a Bachelor of Science in Art with a concentration in graphic design from the University of Maryland.
Joanna London
Senior Associate & Video Producer
Joanna London, senior associate and producer for StudioAPCO®, produces videos to help clients further strategic communication objectives. Ms. London specializes in videos employed as a part of public affairs campaigns, employee communication, marketing and issue advocacy.
Most recently, Ms. London produced a 30-minute nationally syndicated public affairs television show on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry, featuring PhRMA's chief executive officer and celebrity guests. Responsibilities included managing a 12-person crew, script writing, field production and editing. Prior to joining StudioAPCO®, Ms. London worked in grassroots organizing, campaign management, coalition building and earned media strategy for a variety of clients. On behalf of PhRMA, Ms. London helped launch the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, one of the most successful national grassroots/earned media campaigns helping uninsured patients access prescription medicines. After the campaign launched, she was responsible for the management of a 50-state earned media effort that garnered thousands of positive news stories.
Ms. London has worked on communication projects on a broad range of issues ranging from health care to energy policy, and she has expertise in video production, internal and external communication, corporate positioning, grassroots strategy and media relations.
Prior to joining APCO, Ms. London worked for the Natural Resources Defense Council, building coalitions in support of the organization's legislative objectives. She managed public education campaigns, supported legislative initiatives and helped build state-wide coalitions.
Ms. London has a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Caroline Allnutt
Video Editor/Producer
Caroline Allnutt, producer/editor for StudioAPCO®, creates videos for all aspects of client communication. She works with clients to produce and edit videos for presentations, commercials and Web broadcasts.
Prior to joining APCO, Ms. Allnutt worked as a freelance editor for companies such as National Geographic Television and Film, Discovery Communications, Smithsonian Channel and History Channel. She worked on shows such as "National Geographic Explorer - DNA: The Search for Adam," "Lockdown: Supermax," "Surviving: The San Francisco Earthquake," "Dangerous Encounters with Brady Barr" and "Bear Attacks."
She has also produced many videos for corporate clients and for political commercial campaigns.
Prior to freelancing, Ms. Allnutt worked for Discovery Communications in the international production unit, where she edited documentaries, promos and shorts. Her shows included "Kung Fu: The Animal Within" for Animal Planet and "I Survived!" for Discovery Kids.
At the 2002 New York Film Festival, her work on "Kung Fu: The Animal Within" was awarded a gold medal for editing. At the 2002 Houston Worldfest Film Festival, Ms. Allnutt was recognized with a number of awards including a Platinum Social Issues award for "Children's Defense Fund Scholarship Winners Shorts," a Silver Children's Programming award for "I Survived!", and a Bronze Cable Promo award for "When Dinos Roamed: Art of Animation." At the 2002 Monitor Awards, her work on "I Survived!" was also recognized with the Best Achievement in Children's Programming award. At the 2002 Telly Awards, her work on "Behind the Scenes: When Dinos Roamed: Art of Animation" won her an award for On Air Promos.
Shamyl Zakariya
Manager & Art Director
Shamyl Zakariya is a Web designer as well as a Flash and JavaScript programmer with StudioAPCO®.
Mr. Zakariya is responsible for designing Web sites and building standards compliant HTML/CSS templates for those sites. He also designs and implements interactive Flash animations as well as JavaScript for dynamic HTML. He is also proficient with Adobe Photoshop having used it daily since the mid 1990s.
Prior to joining APCO in 1999, Mr. Zakariya developed multimedia educational software for the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He also worked as a texture-mapper at the University of Virginia's Virtual Reality Lab.
Mr. Zakariya enjoys amateur robotics and artificial intelligence programming and simulation. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a focus on printmaking from the University of Virginia.
Rose Matteucci
Manager & Graphic Designer
Rose Matteucci is a graphic designer with StudioAPCO®. She designs print pieces and also works on projects that are distributed electronically.
She has created pieces for various clients including logos, PowerPoint templates, collateral, newsletters and direct mail. She works closely with APCO's corporate marketing and communication team to develop APCO's branded materials including case studies, PowerPoint templates, advertising materials, brochures and APCO's internal employee newsletter. She also assists in developing materials for APCO's International Advisory Council and ASERO Worldwide.
Previously, Ms. Matteucci worked as a freelance graphic designer for Touch3, LLC, in Fairfax, Va. Some of her projects included monthly publications for professional associations and nonprofits, direct mail pieces, identity and redesigns. She also worked as a freelance graphic designer for BonoTom in Arlington, Va., where she completed work for monthly industry and trade publications.
